About the Role
This opportunity is for a Cloud Network Engineer responsible for designing, maintaining, securing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure that supports connectivity between AWS cloud environments and customer networks. The role focuses on VPN connectivity, routing, network performance, AWS networking infrastructure, customer environment onboarding, monitoring, maintenance, and infrastructure automation.
The position requires hands-on experience with AWS VPC networking, Site-to-Site VPNs, Transit Gateway, IPsec, BGP, OSPF, NAT, TCP/IP, packet analysis, and network security. The successful candidate will work directly with customer IT and technical teams in hybrid cloud environments. Healthcare IT or other regulated-industry experience is preferred, and experience supporting oncology technology environments is especially desirable.
What You'll Do
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot secure VPN and network connectivity across AWS and customer environments.
- Manage AWS networking infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, Network ACLs, and Transit Gateway.
- Diagnose complex network issues involving routing, NAT, VPN tunnels, latency, and network performance.
- Monitor network infrastructure and proactively identify issues that could affect system availability, security, or performance.
- Perform network maintenance, configuration changes, firmware updates, and security patching while minimizing service disruption.
- Support the deployment and onboarding of new customer environments, including network configuration, firewall coordination, and connectivity validation.
- Work directly with customer IT and technical teams to coordinate network configurations and resolve connectivity issues.
- Analyze network traffic and troubleshoot connectivity using packet capture and network analysis tools such as Wireshark.
- Use infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation to support consistent and repeatable cloud network deployments.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and runbooks while contributing to improvements in network reliability, security, automation, and monitoring.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, including experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience configuring and supporting AWS networking technologies such as VPCs, Site-to-Site VPN, Transit Gateway, subnets, and routing.
- Experience troubleshooting NAT, routing, and complex VPN connectivity issues.
- Experience using network troubleshooting and packet analysis tools such as Wireshark.
- Ability to work directly with technical teams and customers to troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of IPsec VPN technologies, including IKEv1, IKEv2, and Phase 1 and Phase 2 negotiations.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, and general network security concepts.
- Strong network troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across cloud and customer environments.
- Clear communication skills for coordinating technical configurations and resolving connectivity issues with customer and internal technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure-as-code technologies.
- Healthcare IT or other regulated-industry experience.
- Experience supporting oncology technology environments.
- Experience with healthcare integration technologies such as HL7 or FHIR.
- AWS, CCNP, or equivalent networking or security certifications.
