About the Role
This opportunity is for a Cloud DevOps Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer responsible for designing, automating, and managing the software release lifecycle across a multi-tenant, HIPAA-regulated cloud platform. The position focuses on building reliable CI/CD pipelines, coordinating deployments across UAT, pre-production, and production environments, and improving release automation to support consistent software delivery with minimal customer disruption.
The role combines Azure DevOps pipeline engineering, AWS cloud operations, SQL Server database deployments, Terraform infrastructure changes, and application observability. Responsibilities include replacing manual release processes with automated deployment workflows, implementing validation and rollback controls, and coordinating release readiness with development, security, infrastructure, and vendor teams. The position reports to an Engineering Manager and works closely with senior engineers and technical leadership.
What You'll Do
Deployment & Release Engineering- Manage the complete software deployment lifecycle across UAT, pre-production, and production environments, coordinating release readiness and obtaining final approval from engineering leadership.
- Design, build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to automate application delivery and deployments to AWS environments.
- Implement deployment strategies, including rolling releases, to reduce service interruptions and minimize customer impact.
- Coordinate Microsoft SQL Server database deployments, ensuring consistent schema migrations and data changes across multiple customer databases within a multi-tenant architecture.
- Work with development teams and cross-functional stakeholders to identify release requirements, resolve deployment dependencies, and improve the path from code commit to production.
- Monitor API performance and application observability through AWS CloudWatch and SigNoz dashboards, identifying operational issues and routing incidents to the appropriate development teams.
- Transform manual and legacy deployment procedures into automated, gated CI/CD workflows with rollback capabilities, pre-deployment checks, and post-deployment validation.
- Improve release reliability and repeatability through automation, standardized deployment practices, and continuous pipeline optimization.
- Make targeted infrastructure changes using Terraform Infrastructure as Code to support application deployment and release workflows.
- Contribute to service-level indicator (SLI) and service-level objective (SLO) definitions to improve platform reliability and operational visibility.
- Participate in post-incident reviews and root-cause analysis to identify production issues and opportunities for reliability improvements.
- Coordinate with security and infrastructure specialists on cloud resource provisioning and infrastructure modifications required for application deployments.
- Partner with software engineering teams on release planning, deployment readiness, production rollouts, and post-release verification.
- Coordinate with security teams on change management, access controls, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Work with internal IT and infrastructure teams on AWS resource provisioning, networking requirements, and cloud platform dependencies.
- Collaborate with offshore vendor partners to manage deployment handoffs, release windows, and shared troubleshooting activities across time zones.
- Coordinate deployment schedules with Data and Analytics teams to prevent conflicts with ETL jobs, existing data pipelines, and scheduled processing activities.
- Create and maintain technical runbooks, deployment checklists, release procedures, and operational documentation to ensure consistent, repeatable processes and accessible release knowledge.
