Custodian

Pay: $20.00/hour

Position overview

This role focuses on maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the facilities and surrounding grounds. The custodian works independently to support daily upkeep, minor repairs, and secure building access while following custodial and safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep, scrub, mop, and wax floors to maintain cleanliness.
• Empty, clean, and maintain trash receptacles and recycling bins.
• Clean, sanitize, and restock bathrooms.
• Service and maintain custodial equipment as needed.
• Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment.
• Report safety, sanitary, or fire hazards promptly to the appropriate department.
• Lock and unlock windows, doors, and gates to secure the premises.
• Keep external grounds maintained and free from debris.
• Occasionally drive company vehicles for equipment or supply pickups.

Experience and qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or groundskeeping roles is preferred.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Comfort with physically demanding work, including squatting, bending, twisting, and kneeling.
• Working knowledge of custodial practices, materials, and techniques.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required.
• Ability to safely operate, maintain, and store custodial equipment and supplies.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings.
• Stamina to cover large areas and handle physically demanding tasks.
