Custodian (Cleaner)

Employment type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, with occasional weekend overtime

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00/hour

Position summary

This role is responsible for cleaning and maintaining school facilities to help provide a clean, healthy, and safe environment. The position also supports room setups and general facility readiness as needed.

What you'll do

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and other assigned areas.
• Support room and furniture setups for meetings, events, and other school activities.
• Remove trash and keep custodial areas organized.
• Assist with floor care, including mopping, stripping, waxing, and carpet extraction.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, replacing light bulbs, and similar basic repairs.
• Support groundskeeping tasks, including sidewalk and outdoor area upkeep and snow removal during inclement weather.
• Help receive and move package deliveries as needed.
• Use custodial equipment and standard tools safely and properly.

What you'll need

• At least 2 years of cleaning experience in a school, commercial, or residential environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer service mindset.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Physical requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders and step ladders.
• Ability to bend, kneel, sit, climb, walk, and perform other physical tasks as the job requires.

Work environment

• Work in varying weather and temperature conditions, including summer heat and winter cold.
• Use hearing protection when needed.
• Use personal protective equipment when required for paints, solvents, and related materials.
