Job Overview
This opportunity is for a Mid-Market Solutions Engineer to support technical sales engagements for nonprofit and corporate customers. The role combines technical expertise, customer-facing communication, product demonstrations, proof-of-concept support, and solution design for SaaS-based grants management software.
This position works closely with sales, product, engineering, implementation, and customer success teams to help customers evaluate solutions, understand technical capabilities, and move confidently from pre-sales discussions into successful deployment.
Compensation
Annual OTE: $96,000 – $120,000 per year
Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 per year
Variable Target: $16,000 – $20,000 per year
Pay Mix: approximately 80% base salary and 20% variable pay
Work Setup
Employment Type: Full-time
Location Eligibility: Applicants residing in Alaska, Delaware, Louisiana, Maine, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wyoming cannot be considered.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to prospects, customers, and stakeholders.
- Help ensure proposed solutions align with customer technical goals, strategic priorities, implementation needs, and long-term outcomes.
- Lead technical discovery, product demonstrations, proofs of concept, and technical evaluations.
- Design tailored solutions for mid-market nonprofit and corporate customers.
- Demonstrate how grants management software can support customer workflows, program goals, and deployment needs.
- Partner closely with the sales team to move opportunities forward and support customer decision-making.
- Create smooth handoffs to implementation and customer success teams after the pre-sales process.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to deliver scalable and practical solutions.
- Create high-quality pre-sales documentation and Statements of Work that accurately define project scope and customer expectations.
- Maintain expert-level platform knowledge and continuously learn how the product solves customer problems and delivers value.
- Represent the solution at conferences, webinars, and external engagements.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of target markets, competitors, industry challenges, and ongoing trends.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in solutions engineering, solutions consulting, technical sales, implementation, or a similar customer-facing SaaS role.
- Experience with business software, grants management software, or similar SaaS environments.
- Strong focus on customer impact and the ability to connect technical solutions to customer outcomes.
- Proficiency with web technologies.
- Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and cloud platforms.
- Strong presentation, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience supporting competitive sales motions.
- Familiarity with MEDDPICC or a similar value-selling framework is a strong plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with customers and internal teams.
