Role overview
This warehouse supervisor role oversees night shift warehouse operations, including trailer loading and unloading, inventory control, shipping documentation, equipment readiness, safety standards, food safety procedures, and warehouse organization.
What you’ll oversee
- Supervise warehouse operators and daily warehouse activity during the assigned shift.
- Oversee accurate receipt confirmations from suppliers and accurate receipt data entry.
- Prepare and maintain shipping documentation for outgoing materials.
- Organize and file manifests and bills of lading.
- Secure outbound transportation for finished goods.
- Monitor ambient, chilled, and raw material inventory levels.
- Schedule trucks for outside storage when needed.
- Keep floors, drains, coolers, posts, and trailer inspection records audit-ready.
- Verify trailer seals and review trailer inspection sheets for accuracy.
- Communicate inventory discrepancies or operational changes to other departments.
- Ensure warehouse equipment is properly maintained and inspection checklists are completed.
- Maintain assigned supply inventory.
- Track outbound shipments and report daily, weekly, and monthly fulfillment activity.
- Explain delinquent, short, or missed shipments when they occur.
- Maintain shipment tracking logs and report deviations.
- Support the cycle count program from count capture through system entry.
- Handle shift coverage needs, including calling in employees when required.
- Report employee issues, policy violations, and safety concerns to management.
- Support additional warehouse accounting functions as needed.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience required.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to create, adopt, and improve warehouse processes and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to maintain customer and supplier relationships through timely communication.
- Ability to support employee supervision responsibilities, including discipline-related reporting.
Work conditions
- 12 hours of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Frequent reaching and bending.
- Facility is air-conditioned, and cooler areas are 35°F.
- Food safety, quality, and safety system requirements must be followed.
Food safety responsibilities
- Notify supervision of repairs or adjustments that may affect product quality or food safety.
- Follow color-coded container policy requirements in production areas.
- Perform duties needed to meet company, customer, and government requirements.
- Help prevent food safety and product quality nonconformities.
- Identify and record problems related to food safety, ingredients, processes, quality systems, or safety systems.
- Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until issues are corrected.
