Work Arrangement: This is a remote position. However, certain responsibilities may require occasional onsite support when needed, including open enrollment activities.
Position Overview
The Human Resource Generalist supports the development and implementation of human resources practices, procedures, and solutions for assigned clients and regions. Working under the supervision of the Human Resource Supervisor, this position applies practical HR knowledge and experience to support compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, HR systems, reporting, and other HR initiatives.
This role works directly with clients, employees, brokers, internal HR professionals, and specialized service teams to help ensure HR services are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable federal and state requirements.
What You’ll Do
- HR program support: Partner with the HR team to support the execution of human resources plans, programs, practices, and client initiatives.
- I-9 compliance: Conduct I-9 compliance reviews and employee file audits.
- Employee interviews: Conduct exit interviews and stay interviews.
- Open enrollment: Support employee benefits open enrollment activities, which may occasionally require onsite participation.
- Employee communications: Prepare and distribute communications announcing open enrollment and related benefits information.
- Meeting facilitation: Coordinate and facilitate meetings involving clients, benefits brokers, HR team members, and other relevant internal service teams.
- EEO-1 reporting: Compile information and documentation required for EEO-1 reporting.
- Employee onboarding: Assist with employee onboarding and provide advanced support after initial onboarding assistance has been completed.
- Process documentation: Create standard operating procedures and other HR process documentation.
- Workplace investigations: Assist with internal client investigations involving workplace or employee-related matters.
- Employee records: Maintain accurate employee records and information within client systems.
- HRIS and HCM support: Apply familiarity with HR information systems to provide recommendations for human capital management projects and work directly with HCM system support teams.
- Client HR support: Work directly with clients on employee relations, compensation administration, benefits, talent acquisition, and organizational talent development matters.
- HR initiatives: Support lead HR professionals with the execution of client initiatives and ongoing HR programs.
- Cross-functional coordination: Partner with internal service teams to ensure services are delivered accurately and efficiently.
- Project support: Provide input and assistance for HR service projects.
- Systems and process improvement: Participate in developing and optimizing client systems, workflows, and HR processes.
- Professional development: Continue building knowledge of progressive human resources practices and emerging HR trends.
- Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of HR services and processes.
- Legal compliance: Maintain current knowledge of federal and state legal requirements affecting human resources functions.
- Policy compliance: Help ensure that policies, procedures, documentation, and reporting comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Meetings and training: Participate in department staff meetings and attend other relevant meetings, seminars, and professional development sessions.
- Additional responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field is preferred, along with at least two years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, including at least four years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of organizational structures, policies, missions, and business strategies.
- Knowledge of human resources administration principles, practices, and procedures related to employment, compensation, job classification, and employee development.
- Broad knowledge of the primary functions and disciplines within human resources.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of facilitation and presentation methods and techniques.
- Understanding of statistical methods, analytical concepts, and other tools used in HR processes.
- Knowledge of interviewing methods and candidate evaluation processes.
- Experience working with multiple HRIS and payroll software platforms.
- Ability to deliver clear, organized, and effective presentations.
- Ability to analyze a wide range of HR data and draw appropriate conclusions from the findings.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal and state statutes, rules, and regulations to moderately complex human resources issues.
- Ability to evaluate simple to moderately complex employment and employee relations matters and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks while priorities and deadlines frequently change.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with client relationship management tools, virtual meeting platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Ability to use appropriate interpersonal and communication styles for different audiences and situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to keep appropriate stakeholders informed about decisions, changes, progress, and other relevant information.
