Remote (United States)
Job Details
Status: Full-Time
Pay: $165,000 – $195,000 per year. Equity and benefits are also offered.
About the Role
This opportunity is for a Senior Software Engineer who will take meaningful ownership of backend systems spanning trust, identity, access management, auditing, and telemetry. The role combines hands-on software development with end-to-end feature ownership, production reliability, technical design, and close collaboration with Product, Design, and partner engineering teams.
You will own technical components from initial design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring. The work includes enterprise-grade APIs, telemetry pipelines, authentication and authorization systems, audit infrastructure, and other services that require strong reliability, observability, and security.
What You’ll Do
- Take technical ownership of a defined subdomain, such as OAuth and SSO flows, audit logging infrastructure, telemetry ingestion pipelines, or fine-grained permissions systems
- Drive features end to end by writing design documentation, gaining alignment, implementing solutions, testing, deploying, and monitoring them in production
- Design systems for enterprise reliability with observability, rollback paths, and incremental delivery built in
- Participate in on-call rotations and postmortems for production systems
- Work directly with Product and Design to define scope, priorities, tradeoffs, and delivery increments
- Communicate clearly in an async-first engineering environment
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and the evolution of technical standards
- Give and receive constructive technical feedback across the engineering team
Telemetry
- Build and maintain pipelines, APIs, and supporting user experiences that transform raw telemetry into useful insights
- Support visibility into usage, performance, and schema behavior so engineering teams can safely evolve and scale their systems
Trust
- Build and maintain identity, access management, and auditing capabilities
- Work on OAuth, SSO, fine-grained role-based access, tokens, permissions, and audit logging
- Help ensure that access is correctly controlled and important user or system activity is recorded
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience designing and building backend services in production environments
- Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including consistency, failure modes, and resiliency patterns
- Experience designing APIs and data models used by other teams or external customers
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as TypeScript/Node.js, Go, Rust, Java, or similar
- Experience working with relational databases and at least one key-value, document, or time-series data store
- Hands-on ownership of production services, including on-call responsibilities, incident response, and postmortems
- Familiarity with observability practices and tooling, including metrics, tracing, logging, and SLOs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly for technical design documents and asynchronous collaboration
- Ability to collaborate with Product and Design to define scope, evaluate tradeoffs, and plan incremental delivery
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with GraphQL, GraphQL platform technologies, or API gateways
- Experience with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, or enterprise SSO workflows
- Experience with identity and access management systems, RBAC/ABAC models, or audit logging
- Familiarity with AI agents, tool or function calling, or agentic middleware
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, including Kubernetes, containers, or service meshes
- Background in security engineering, compliance tooling, or enterprise identity systems
Work Environment
- Fully remote position available from anywhere in the United States
- Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and partner engineering teams
- Async-first communication and distributed teamwork
- Production ownership that includes on-call participation and post-incident reviews
Benefits
- Equity participation
- Multiple medical plan options for U.S. employees
- Additional medical plan options available to California residents
- Dental and vision benefits
