About the Role
The Senior Data Engineer will oversee data engineering, reporting, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing hosted and cloud-based data solutions. The role combines hands-on data engineering with technical leadership, team mentoring, architecture, platform reliability, and enterprise data management.
This position works across Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric/Power BI, Snowflake, MongoDB, data lakes, data warehouses, ETL, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud database environments. Responsibilities also include defining enterprise data standards, supporting complex cross-functional initiatives, maintaining service levels, and strengthening security, resiliency, scalability, automation, and disaster recovery practices.
What You'll Do
- Oversee data engineering, reporting, development, and delivery of hosted and cloud-based solutions that are secure, performant, and scalable.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to prepare and deliver complex datasets that meet business requirements.
- Participate in Information Technology strategy, budgeting, and project planning activities.
- Define standards, procedures, and methodologies that support the security, integrity, resiliency, scalability, and performance of enterprise data resources.
- Lead data engineering support, maintenance, and change management activities, including service levels, efficacy reviews, and task and resource scheduling.
- Evaluate and adopt third-party tools, add-ons, and interfaces that improve product capabilities or operational efficiency.
- Stay current with evolving technologies, standards, and engineering practices related to security, quality, and automation.
- Participate in proactive assessments, lifecycle management, capacity management and planning, business continuity, and disaster recovery activities to maintain service levels.
- Help maintain system standards, information security practices, Incident Response plans, and Disaster Recovery plans that meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and the enterprise security posture.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 5 years of experience managing and mentoring data engineering teams or teams in similar technical disciplines.
- 5 years of recent practical experience implementing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric/Power BI, Snowflake, MongoDB, and data lake technologies, including administration, ETL, high availability, deployments, and disaster recovery.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing, developing, and managing traditional databases, cloud databases, data lakes, data warehouses, and NoSQL solutions.
- Demonstrated experience managing and participating in complex, cross-functional projects and driving technical innovation.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps and supporting SDLC, CI/CD development, and deployments.

- Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences in both written and verbal communication.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience in a Database/Data Architect role or equivalent professional experience.
