About the Role
This opportunity is for a Head of Credit responsible for owning the end-to-end credit strategy, underwriting framework, risk models, portfolio performance, and credit product development. The position will design and scale the credit infrastructure supporting consumer financial products while balancing growth with disciplined portfolio performance.
The role requires deep expertise in credit modeling, underwriting strategy, portfolio management, credit bureau data, alternative underwriting signals, and automated decisioning. The Head of Credit will work closely with product, data, and finance stakeholders, as well as sponsor banks and compliance partners, while building and leading the credit risk and underwriting organization.
What You'll Do
- Own the overall credit strategy and underwriting framework across consumer credit products.
- Design and scale credit decisioning infrastructure and credit risk models.
- Monitor and optimize portfolio performance across approval rates, delinquencies, and credit losses.
- Partner with product and data teams to develop automated underwriting and risk systems.
- Launch and manage new credit products within the broader financial product ecosystem.
- Work closely with sponsor banks and compliance partners to maintain regulatory alignment.
- Build and lead the credit risk and underwriting organization.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in consumer credit, underwriting, or credit risk leadership.
- Experience building or scaling credit programs within a fintech, card issuer, or modern bank.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in credit modeling, underwriting strategy, and portfolio management.
- Experience using credit bureau data, alternative underwriting signals, and automated decisioning approaches.
- Ability to design and scale credit decisioning infrastructure and risk models.
- Ability to manage portfolio performance across approval rates, delinquencies, and losses.
- Ability to work effectively with product and data teams on automated underwriting and risk systems.
- Experience working with sponsor banks and compliance partners on regulatory alignment.
- Ability to build and lead credit risk and underwriting functions in a fast-moving financial technology environment.
