About the Role

This opportunity is for a Senior Software Engineer, Platform focused on building and improving the software infrastructure, shared components, and engineering tools that support reliable application development. The position combines hands-on software engineering with platform architecture, cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, and automation. Key priorities include improving system stability, code quality, maintainability, and engineering productivity while delivering technical solutions that support application development and production operations.

The role involves designing platform solutions using technologies such as AWS, Terraform, Python, MongoDB, and GitHub Actions. Responsibilities span cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, authentication systems, security practices, and shared software libraries. The engineer will work with cross-functional engineering stakeholders, guide technical decisions, contribute to full-stack development when needed, and mentor other engineers while supporting a scalable technology platform for educational scheduling applications.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and implement software platform solutions that improve application reliability, maintainability, engineering efficiency, and development speed.
• Build and improve cloud infrastructure, test infrastructure, shared product libraries, reusable software components, authentication systems, and CI/CD tooling.
• Identify, prioritize, and deliver platform engineering initiatives based on their impact on software quality, developer productivity, and technical operations.
• Work with engineering stakeholders to identify development challenges, evaluate technical requirements, and implement solutions that accelerate software delivery without compromising quality.
• Investigate technical challenges, evaluate architecture and tooling options, and help guide engineering decisions affecting software development and maintenance.
• Improve production availability and application reliability through observability, monitoring practices, recovery procedures, and ongoing infrastructure improvements.
• Provide periodic on-call support to maintain production system availability and assist with operational issues.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, development patterns, testing approaches, and technical best practices.
• Conduct cross-team software design reviews and code reviews to strengthen engineering quality and consistency.
• Share platform engineering knowledge through technical presentations, documentation, mentoring, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Plan and deliver critical engineering projects by defining technical scope, creating development tickets, coordinating execution, and managing delivery timelines.
• Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement through knowledge-sharing, technical guidance, and collaborative engineering practices.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• 3–5+ years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or closely equivalent technical work.
• Experience designing and delivering technical solutions that improve software development workflows, application reliability, and engineering productivity.
• Experience working in agile software development environments and applying collaborative engineering practices.
• Experience operating in a fast-paced startup environment, independently managing responsibilities, and delivering technical improvements efficiently.

Required Skills

• Practical knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform, or equivalent tools.
• Proficiency with Python and experience working with MongoDB or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), including GitHub Actions or comparable automation platforms.
• Ability to design and develop full-stack software solutions, including frontend development when required, to support engineering and business needs.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Jest and Pytest and the ability to apply testing practices throughout software development.
• Ability to evaluate technical architectures, investigate engineering challenges, and contribute to sound software design and implementation decisions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Commitment to code reviews, pair programming, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous improvement in software engineering practices.
• Ability to take ownership of technical initiatives, work independently, and deliver improvements with a focus on quality and timely execution.
