About the Role
This QA Engineer (Automation + Functional) opportunity focuses on maintaining software quality across web and mobile applications through automated testing, functional validation, and proactive quality planning. The position combines hands-on test automation with end-to-end ownership of testing activities, from defining acceptance criteria and developing test plans to assessing release readiness and monitoring quality metrics.
The role involves building and maintaining Playwright-based automated tests, integrating test execution into CI/CD pipelines, and working directly with product and engineering teams throughout feature development. Testing supports software used for remote cardiac patient monitoring, where reliable application functionality and careful handling of clinical information are important. The position also contributes to improving testing tools, establishing quality gates, and developing scalable QA processes.
What You'll Do
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated end-to-end and regression tests using Playwright, ensuring reliable execution within CI/CD pipelines.
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing across web and mobile applications to identify defects and verify software behavior.
- Work directly with product and engineering teams to create comprehensive test plans for new features, participating early in development to help establish clear acceptance criteria.
- Take ownership of testing activities throughout the development lifecycle, from interpreting product requirements through release validation.
- Help establish release readiness standards and quality gates to support consistent software delivery as the team expands.
- Investigate, reproduce, triage, and document software defects, producing clear bug reports that support efficient resolution.
- Monitor and communicate software quality indicators, including escaped defects, automated test coverage, and test flake rates.
- Evaluate and improve testing tools, automation practices, and QA processes to support increasingly complex software development needs.
Qualifications

- Practical experience incorporating automated test execution into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Required Skills
- Ability to develop and maintain reliable automated tests while supporting functional and regression testing activities.
- Strong understanding of test planning, acceptance criteria, defect reproduction, and software quality validation.
- Ability to work independently, establish effective testing practices, and improve existing QA processes in a rapidly evolving startup environment.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, reproducible bug reports and detailed test documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with product and engineering teams during feature planning, development, and release preparation.
- Must be based in the United States and available for substantial daily working-hour overlap with Pacific Time (PT).
