About the Role
This opportunity is for a Senior Backend Software Engineer working on large-scale consumer products that serve millions of users. The role focuses on building scalable backend services, supporting product experimentation, and improving platform capabilities that enable rapid feature development.
Engineers in this role collaborate closely with product, design, and data teams to deliver reliable backend systems, support new product launches, and evolve shared infrastructure used across multiple product teams. The position requires strong systems thinking and a practical approach to balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
What You’ll Do
- Build and ship backend features and experiments that improve monetization, user experiences, content understanding, and personalization
- Design and develop shared services and platform capabilities used across engineering teams
- Evolve backend systems while balancing rapid product iteration with long-term system health
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to deliver high-impact features
- Instrument and analyze experiments to guide future product iterations
- Design reusable services and abstractions that support multiple product teams
- Improve backend reliability, scalability, and performance
- Make thoughtful engineering tradeoffs to maintain simplicity and long-term maintainability
Qualifications
- 4–5 years of backend software development experience
- Strong programming experience in languages such as Python or Java
- Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, and scalable services
- Experience evolving legacy systems while maintaining system reliability and performance
- Ability to design APIs and shared infrastructure that support multiple product teams
- Experience balancing rapid product experimentation with long-term maintainability
- Ability to connect engineering decisions with measurable product outcomes
- Strong collaboration skills working with product managers, designers, and data scientists
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly explain technical tradeoffs
