About the Role
This opportunity is for a Senior Data Engineer responsible for building, optimizing, and scaling data pipeline architecture for a healthcare technology platform. The role focuses on data delivery, highly scalable infrastructure, automation, data quality, governance, security, and reliable data access for analytics and machine learning initiatives.
The position works closely with data scientists, analysts, data architects, and cross-functional teams to support efficient data flow and contribute to data-driven product and business initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the optimization and scalability of data delivery pipelines to ensure strong performance and reliability for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Architect, build, and maintain robust, high-throughput data pipelines and infrastructure to support advanced analytics and machine learning.
- Partner with data architects, data scientists, and analysts to design solutions that meet evolving data requirements and business objectives.
- Establish best practices for data quality, governance, security, and compliance.
- Implement automated frameworks for data cleaning, validation, correction, and enrichment.
- Drive continuous improvement in data engineering processes by identifying bottlenecks and improving scalability standards.
- Reduce manual effort through automation and process improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and contribute to broader data platform strategy.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering, including a proven track record of leading large-scale and complex projects.
- Deep expertise with modern cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
- Advanced SQL skills and strong experience with relational and columnar database systems.
- Proficiency with data pipeline and workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Luigi.
- Strong programming background in Python, Scala, or Java for data processing and automation.
- Experience in backend development, including TypeScript, Java, Python, Node.js, and SQL-based relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience designing data models and schemas for both operational and analytical use cases.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Experience applying secure and compliant data handling practices in regulated environments.
- Strong ability to connect business needs with technical solutions and support stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Expertise in data warehouse architecture, dimensional modeling, and automated data engineering at scale.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR or HL7.
- Experience with regulated data domains.
