About the Role
This opportunity is for an experienced Senior Merchant who can help shape product strategy, assortment planning, and category growth for a fast-growing consumer accessories brand. This role sits at the intersection of design, data, customer insight, trend awareness, and commercial performance.
The Senior Merchant will help guide what products are created, how they are positioned, and how the overall assortment evolves across handbags, accessories, new product categories, and new markets. The right candidate will bring a strong point of view on trends, a deep understanding of customer demand, and the ability to connect product decisions with revenue, margin, and sell-through performance.
This role is especially well suited for someone who is genuinely passionate about handbags and accessories and enjoys building product assortments that customers connect with.
Employment Type: Full Time
Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 per year
Travel
There may be opportunities for domestic or international travel for team gatherings, special events, and occasional in-person collaboration.
What You’ll Do
- Lead assortment planning and category strategy across the product portfolio.
- Analyze product performance data to identify opportunities for growth, optimization, and category expansion.
- Partner closely with Design and Creative teams to shape product direction and ensure product concepts align with brand vision and commercial goals.
- Bring a trend-forward perspective by monitoring the handbag and accessories market, competitor activity, emerging styles, and customer preferences.
- Identify emerging trends and customer needs that can support new product opportunities.
- Develop pricing and product positioning strategies that support brand perception, customer demand, and margin targets.
- Evaluate product performance using key metrics such as revenue, margin, and sell-through.
- Work closely with marketing teams to support product storytelling, launches, and campaigns.
- Collaborate with inventory planning to ensure inventory levels align with product demand and assortment strategy.
- Continuously evaluate the product portfolio to identify opportunities to refine the assortment and strengthen top-performing categories.
- Support expansion into new product categories and markets.
- Help ensure the product assortment remains practical, stylish, customer-focused, and aligned with sustainable brand values.
What You Bring
- 6+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, or product strategy within the handbag industry.
- Direct experience in handbag or accessories buying, merchandising, or category strategy.
- Strong understanding of the handbag and accessories category.
- High trend awareness and strong knowledge of what is emerging, what is performing, and what competitors are doing at a commercial level.
- Ability to understand how product, pricing, and positioning influence customer demand.
- Strong analytical ability with comfort reviewing performance metrics such as revenue, margin, sell-through, and category growth.
- Collaborative working style and the ability to partner effectively with marketing, product, design, creative, operations, and inventory teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment where product strategy plays an important role in business success.
- Strong business judgment and confidence making recommendations that influence product direction.
- Experience with consumer brands, fashion, accessories, or DTC e-commerce is a strong asset.
- Curiosity, growth mindset, and interest in contributing to a customer-focused product assortment.

The Senior Merchant will help support product decisions that align with customer needs, commercial performance, and continued category expansion.
