Compensation: $210,000 - $245,000 per year, plus equity
About the Role
This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end design of a foundational product platform that supports every stage of the grant management lifecycle. The position focuses on creating scalable platform experiences, defining interaction standards, and solving complex product challenges involving data relationships, reporting, integrations, and workflow management.
You will work closely with product and engineering leadership to shape product direction, drive zero-to-one initiatives, and establish design foundations that influence multiple product areas. This is an individual contributor role with broad strategic impact and significant ownership across platform design.
What You'll Do
Platform Ownership & Product Design
- Lead end-to-end product design across platform and core product areas, from discovery and research through launch and continuous iteration.
- Design experiences that connect task management, reporting, integrations, and data relationships throughout the complete grant lifecycle.
- Own complex platform experiences involving multiple workflows, user interactions, and interconnected systems.
- Drive zero-to-one product development for new platform capabilities where requirements are still evolving.
- Translate ambiguous product opportunities into intuitive, scalable user experiences.
Design Systems & Platform Standards
- Define interaction patterns and design system foundations used across multiple product areas.
- Improve and expand the organization's design system while maintaining consistency and usability.
- Establish platform design standards that support long-term product scalability.
- Raise the overall quality of design execution across the product organization.
- Coach and support other designers while helping elevate design practices.
Research & Strategic Collaboration
- Plan, conduct, and synthesize user research independently.
- Transform complex user needs into clear product direction and actionable design decisions.
- Partner closely with product management and engineering leadership on product strategy and execution.
- Drive alignment across product, engineering, and go-to-market teams.
- Influence product vision through strong design thinking and evidence-based recommendations.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional product design experience.
- Meaningful experience operating at the Senior or Staff Product Designer level.
- Proven success owning complex B2B product areas from concept through delivery.
- Experience designing products involving multi-entity workflows, complex data relationships, multiple user roles, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated success leading zero-to-one product development where solutions were created from undefined problems.
- Strong systems-thinking skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Figma, prototyping, interaction design, and modern product design workflows.
- Deep experience planning, conducting, and synthesizing user research.
- Ability to influence product vision and strategic direction through design.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing B2B SaaS or enterprise software products.
- Experience designing AI-powered or intelligent product experiences.
- Active use of AI tools within the product design workflow.
- Experience defining and evolving design systems.
- Background working with compliance, workflow-intensive, or data integrity-focused products.
- Experience mentoring or coaching product designers.
- Familiarity with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
