About the Role
This opportunity is for a Director, Information Technology to lead and scale the internal technology ecosystem of a growing technology organization. This is a highly technical leadership role focused on designing, implementing, integrating, and operating the systems that support a modern workforce.
The role is not primarily focused on managing support queues or maintaining legacy infrastructure. It is centered on selecting strong technologies, integrating them into a cohesive environment, automating workflows, improving reliability, and building internal systems that work efficiently at scale.
This position is best suited for a technical IT leader who has personally led major technology implementations and understands enterprise architecture, identity management, endpoint management, SaaS ecosystems, automation, and security. Candidates whose experience is limited mainly to vendor management, help desk operations, or support organizations without direct ownership of technical architecture and implementation are unlikely to be a fit.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute the IT strategy, ensuring internal technology systems can scale effectively alongside business growth.
- Lead the architecture, implementation, integration, and ongoing optimization of enterprise applications, collaboration platforms, identity management systems, endpoint management solutions, and security tools.
- Build a modern, automation-first IT organization focused on reliability, self-service capabilities, and an exceptional employee technology experience.
- Establish technology standards and governance processes that improve security, compliance, operational efficiency, and scalability.
- Own the Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, SharePoint, Teams, and related technologies.
- Partner closely with Security, Engineering, People Operations, Finance, and Business Operations teams to ensure technology investments align with business objectives.
- Evaluate, select, and implement third-party technology platforms that improve productivity while reducing operational complexity.
- Develop metrics that measure system reliability, user experience, automation effectiveness, and business enablement, rather than relying only on help desk ticket volume or support SLAs.
- Lead and develop a high-performing IT team while fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
- Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, technology roadmaps, and strategic planning activities.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including experience leading enterprise IT functions within high-growth technology organizations.
- Demonstrated success leading IT for an organization that scaled from approximately 200 employees to 500 employees, or through a similar growth stage.
- Deep hands-on expertise within the Microsoft technology ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, SharePoint, Teams, endpoint management, and identity management.
- Proven experience implementing and integrating third-party SaaS platforms and enterprise business systems.
- Strong understanding of modern IT architecture, identity and access management, endpoint management, cloud infrastructure, enterprise security, and business application ecosystems.
- Experience building automation, self-service capabilities, and operational processes that reduce support burden and improve the employee experience.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on technical execution.
- Strong leadership experience managing and developing technical teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence leaders across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting distributed and hybrid workforces across multiple geographies.
- Experience operating within regulated environments such as government, aerospace, defense, or national security industries.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, NIST, CMMC, or ISO 27001.
- Experience implementing enterprise automation platforms and workflow orchestration tools.
- Experience leading significant Microsoft migrations, consolidations, or modernization initiatives.
- Relevant Microsoft, security, or cloud certifications.
