Role overview
You’ll support network construction in residential apartment complexes and office buildings by running fiber and ethernet cabling, installing networking equipment, and setting up rooftop radios across assigned buildings.
What you’ll do
- Run fiber and ethernet through building risers.
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot network cabling.
- Mount and install networking equipment in MDF and IDF closets.
- Power and test networking switches and other networking hardware.
- Set up and align radios on rooftops.
- Work in residential apartment complexes and office buildings.
- Follow work orders and change orders.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely.
- Troubleshoot issues in a fast-paced field environment.
- Help complete 2 to 3 building setups per month.
What you’ll need
- No degree required.
- 1 to 3 years of experience with fiber optic, ethernet cable, electrician, or conduit work.
- Ability to run fiber and Cat5e or Cat6 cabling through large multi-tenant buildings.
- Ability to install cabling through existing interior and exterior conduit.
- Comfort working in high-rises and on rooftops.
- Comfort working in confined spaces.
- Comfort using mass transit during the workday.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders and change orders.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to keep learning.
- Ability to bend pipe up to 1 inch is a plus.
- Ability to terminate fiber is a plus.
- Knowledge of DC power is a plus.
Physical requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work on rooftops, in high-rise buildings, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to perform hands-on construction and installation work throughout the shift.
