About the Role
This opportunity is for a pragmatic full-stack Software Engineer with Ruby on Rails experience to help build, improve, and maintain a native advertising platform that supports user-facing healthcare products. The role is focused on creating performant, reliable, and easy-to-use software for a wide range of users, including healthcare professionals, clients, and internal teams.
You will work within a small, mostly autonomous remote team that includes software engineers, UX designers, data analysts, data engineers, and product owners. The role involves close collaboration with product and data teams, continuous iteration, and balancing speed with strong code quality.
Status: Full-Time
Travel: Required attendance at three company offsites per year in various U.S. cities, 3 nights each, for a total of 9 travel days per year
Pay:$165,000 – $195,000 per year. Total compensation includes salary and equity.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain full-stack web applications using Ruby on Rails and modern frontend technologies
- Collaborate with product partners to develop features for a client business intelligence portal
- Improve the user experience of an advertising content management system
- Work with data teams to make advertising campaigns more effective and efficient
- Enhance ad experiences across web and mobile applications
- Contribute to distributed systems that support millions of operations per day
- Work across a modern technology stack including Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, TypeScript, Inertia.js, MySQL, Sidekiq, GraphQL, Apache Kafka, Redis, and Snowflake
- Participate in remote collaboration while attending required company offsites throughout the year
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience building web applications with Ruby on Rails
- Strong full-stack engineering skills and comfort working across backend and frontend systems
- Experience with Vue.js or another modern JavaScript framework is a plus
- Ability to collaborate with product and data teams to turn ideas into revenue-driving, user-focused features
- Passion for building elegant, performant, and easy-to-use user-facing software
- Strong judgment in balancing fast iteration with high-quality code craftsmanship
- Interest in scaling distributed systems that handle millions of operations per day
- Ability to support a broad range of users, including professional end users, clients, and internal teams
- Self-motivated approach to remote work with strong collaboration and communication skills
Work Environment
- Fully remote role available to residents of North, Central, or South America
- Optional opportunity to work from a San Francisco office
