Status: Full Time
Travel: Approximately 15% - 25% travel to client sites, including travel within the continental United States and outside the continental United States, as needed.
Compensation: $150,000+ per year. Final compensation is based on relevant experience, active security clearance level, certifications, technical skill set, contract requirements, and overall qualifications.
About the Role
This Sr. Network/Systems Engineer role supports the design, implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise networking and hybrid infrastructure environments. The position works across network engineering, systems engineering, cybersecurity, secure infrastructure, and client-facing technical delivery.
The role requires strong experience with secure networking environments, routing and switching, firewalls, wireless networks, Zero Trust Architecture, VPN technologies, system administration, documentation, technical leadership, and secure facility requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Design, engineer, integrate, implement, test, maintain, review, and administer infrastructure, hardware, and software used to manage network security and risk posture in alignment with security strategy.
- Apply systems engineering principles throughout the systems engineering lifecycle to translate cyber objectives, technology trends, and environmental conditions into effective engineering solutions.
- Configure cyber systems to meet user requirements and ensure proper alignment with security policies and standards.
- Apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts to solve complex technical problems and provide innovative cybersecurity and infrastructure solutions.
- Use comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and assignments, demonstrating expertise in multiple areas of cybersecurity and systems engineering.
- Plan and lead major technology assignments, evaluate performance results, and recommend significant changes to support project success and growth.
- Serve as a technical expert across multiple project assignments while operating with substantial autonomy.
- Provide mentorship or supervision to junior employees in technical competencies.
- Stay current on market and technology trends to identify and implement best-of-breed solutions for clients.
Qualifications
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in network and systems engineering roles.
- Deep understanding of networking technologies, security solutions, and system administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Current DoD Top Secret Clearance is required and must be maintained.
- Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements.
- Must maintain at least one approved certification, such as CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture principles and implementation strategies.
- Experience implementing least privilege access controls, continuous authentication, and micro-segmentation to improve network security.
- Experience with Versa Networks is a plus.
- Strong familiarity with network security solutions, including intrusion detection systems, firewall configurations, and related security measures.
- Proficiency with routing and switching technologies, especially Juniper and Cisco hardware.
- Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting wireless networks.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including network functions, routing protocols, configuration mappings, and network drawings.
- Experience with networking protocols and technologies such as BGP, static routing, IP multicast, and VPN technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Active Directory for system administration tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Visio, for documentation and presentation purposes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings to Engineering Review Boards and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Experience working in secure facilities with an understanding of high-side protocols, procedures, and security requirements.
- Ability to travel to client sites within CONUS and OCONUS as needed, approximately 15% - 25%.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and lead projects independently.
- Strong attention to detail for information gathering, analysis, troubleshooting, and presentation purposes.
- Ability to work effectively with team members while also operating independently when needed.
