About the Role
This Senior Engineer (Software), Enterprise opportunity focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise software and deployment infrastructure for a self-managed, on-premises product suite. The role combines hands-on Python and Rust development with Kubernetes-based architecture, automation, and software lifecycle management. Key responsibilities include building high-availability solutions, extending Kubernetes operators, developing management tools and APIs, and ensuring reliable installation, configuration, upgrades, and recovery in customer environments.
The position requires strong software engineering and DevOps expertise across Kubernetes, Helm, GitHub Actions, GitOps, Terraform, and Linux. Engineering work spans control plane applications, telemetry systems, air-gapped environments, and virtual appliance deployments. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration with application engineering teams, Customer Success, and enterprise customers to address complex deployment challenges, improve operational reliability, and support production releases.
What You'll Do
- Design, architect, and implement Kubernetes-based, high-availability (HA) solutions for on-premises enterprise software, including control plane applications, telemetry systems, air-gapped installations, and appliance offerings.
- Develop, extend, and maintain a Kubernetes operator responsible for installing, upgrading, and automatically recovering enterprise software deployments in customer environments.
- Build and maintain an operational management console and supporting tools that enable effective installation, configuration, and ongoing software lifecycle management.
- Architect, implement, and optimize robust multi-stage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and complementary DevOps technologies.
- Coordinate software releases on a six-week delivery cycle consisting of four weeks of development followed by two weeks of stabilization, including versioning strategy and structured release management.
- Write reliable, maintainable Python and Rust code across Kubernetes operator components, internal engineering tools, automation workflows, and application programming interfaces (APIs).
- Develop internal tooling and APIs that support integration testing by upstream application engineering teams, enabling changes to be validated before inclusion in on-premises software releases.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation and establish deployment best practices for installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Proactively identify and resolve deployment issues specific to on-premises infrastructure, including complex installation, upgrade, and operational challenges.
- Participate in a weekly rotating Engineering Guardian assignment, responding to technical questions and escalations from across the organization.
- Work directly with Customer Success teams and customers to investigate, diagnose, and resolve deployment and operational issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve software reliability, deployment automation, and the operational experience of enterprise customers.
