About the Role

This opportunity is for a Forward Deployed Data Engineer to own the delivery of AI-automated data platform migration projects. This is a high-ownership, customer-facing role at the intersection of data engineering, AI, and project delivery.

In this role, you will manage migration projects from start to finish, develop a deep understanding of each customer’s data platform, coordinate execution, remove blockers, and help ensure timely delivery. You will use AI-powered migration tooling to plan and deliver complex data platform migrations, performing work that would traditionally require a full consulting team.

Base salary range: $155,000 - $185,000 per year

What You’ll Do

• End-to-end project ownership: Own 1 to 4 concurrent data platform migration projects, including scoping, planning, execution, and customer handoff.
• Customer communication: Serve as the primary customer contact, lead weekly check-ins, manage stakeholder expectations, and escalate risks early before they become larger issues.
• Migration execution: Configure AI-powered migration tooling and oversee execution of migration workflows.
• Engineering collaboration: Partner with the internal engineering team to execute complex data platform migrations.
• Delivery improvement: Help refine and scale the product and delivery playbook as the team grows.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of experience in data consulting, professional services, or a customer-facing data engineering role.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to participate confidently in both executive check-ins and technical design sessions.
• Strong understanding of the modern data stack, including dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, orchestration tools, and common data platform patterns.
• Experience or familiarity with stored procedures, streaming workflows, and incremental processing patterns.
• Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to identify, surface, and resolve problems while rallying the right team members when needed.
• Daily, effective use of AI tools, with a strong desire to keep improving how AI is applied to technical delivery.
• Exposure to legacy data stacks and data patterns, including ETL and stored procedures, is a strong plus.
• Experience with data platform migration projects is a strong plus.
