About the Role
The Director, Software Engineering will lead a large software engineering organization responsible for complex cloud-based products and platforms. The role oversees approximately 50 engineers through a management structure of 10–11 managers and senior managers, with responsibility for engineering strategy, organizational effectiveness, technical architecture, product delivery, talent development, and long-term platform capabilities.
This position partners closely with Product Management and executive stakeholders to define roadmaps, prioritize technical investments, and align engineering execution with business objectives. The role also guides cloud architecture across application and platform services, supports the development and scaling of AI-enabled products, and strengthens leadership capability across multiple engineering teams.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Product Management to develop and execute roadmaps that balance product innovation, technical investments, operational excellence, and long-term platform strategy.
- Lead and align multiple engineering teams into a cohesive organization with clear priorities, shared objectives, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop and execute software engineering strategies that support current and future business needs while maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure platform capabilities.
- Guide technical architecture decisions across core, application, and platform services technology stacks in partnership with architecture and shared services teams.
- Coach, mentor, and develop managers and senior managers to strengthen leadership capability, organizational effectiveness, and talent density.
- Guide engineering teams in evaluating and prioritizing technical initiatives by articulating business value and aligning investments with strategic objectives.
- Lead engineering hiring, workforce planning, and succession planning to attract, retain, and develop engineering talent.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, sales, customer success, and executive stakeholders to deliver complex, large-scale initiatives.
- Champion Agile and Kanban development methodologies while promoting continuous improvement, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Support the development and scaling of AI-driven products and services and help establish an integrated data ecosystem that enables continued innovation.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including significant leadership experience within complex technology organizations.
- Proven experience leading large engineering organizations through multiple layers of management, including managers and senior managers.
- Demonstrated success partnering with Product Management and executive stakeholders to define strategy, prioritize investments, and deliver business outcomes.
- Experience defining and implementing software engineering best practices across the full software development lifecycle.
- Strong record of organizational leadership, including coaching leaders, driving change, and building high-performing teams.
- Experience delivering large-scale cloud-based solutions using Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
Required Skills
- Strong technical architecture expertise with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and guide strategic technology decisions.
- Ability to develop engineering strategies that support scalable, reliable, and secure software platforms.

Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Familiarity with modern AI technologies, with preference for experience building and scaling AI-enabled products or platforms.
